SMITH & WILLIAMSON

Migrating to Umbraco. Investing in content.

Smith And Williamson

Building partnerships.

Smith & Williamson, one of the largest accounting firms in the UK, wanted to migrate two unresponsive, 4500+ page sites to a friendlier CMS - within a tight time scale.

Not only did we deliver with transparency and efficiency but we developed honest working relationships driven by our Agile process.

We even teamed up with Graeme Smillie, Smith & Williamson’s Head of Creative and Digital, to talk collaborative success at Codegarden - The Official Umbraco Developer Festival.

Migrating to Umbraco.

Smith & Williamson's existing CMS was unresponsive and costly with poor Information Architecture - including extensive duplicate pages affecting the efficiency of SEO and manageability for content editors.

By migrating to Umbraco we’ve created a robust site structure that supports their current needs but also allows for future development. For its daily users, a simplified content editing process means easier access and flexibility.

Content collaboration.

Our focus was to create a system that had the end-users in mind. Involving Smith & Williamson’s content editors from the beginning was key to the project’s success.

Building a dynamic relationship enabled us to work in collaboration, using video demonstrations and tutorials to ensure that they could populate as we continued to develop. Reviewing their experience throughout produced a custom, future proof product that did exactly what it needed.

Agile methods.

Our Agile methodology set the benchmark for project communication. Quick feedback loops took priority, regular demos and honest feedback meant we could resolve any issues as soon as they arose.

The result: an on budget and on schedule migration that set a precedent for our way of working, so much so that Smith & Williamson are now looking to explore Agile working in house.
