Challenges
It shouldn't be this difficult.
Most of the time, it doesn't need to be.
Five challenges we fix
Five challenges we fix
Most regulated organisations do not come to us for a new website. They come because something has stopped working, and it costs money every month it stays unfixed.
Since 2006 we have worked with professional and financial services firms, charities and enterprise teams on the same five problems. If you have raised one of them with the board more than once, you will recognise it below.
Start with the evidence
Before anyone recommends a rebuild, we measure what is actually wrong. A fixed-price audit or Health Check gives you a risk register and a prioritised plan you can take to the board, whoever does the work next.

Fix what matters first
Every stage is fixed price, with a success measure agreed before work starts. If the work overruns, the extra time is ours to absorb, not yours.
Keep it from coming back
Most of these problems build up slowly, through missed upgrades and small fixes that never quite happen. The Platform Assurance Plan and the Momentum Framework stop the drift once it is fixed.

Growth has stalled
Traffic still arrives and the site looks fine, but enquiries have flattened and nobody can say which part of the digital estate is holding things back.

No clear digital direction
Budget gets spent every year, but on a list of requests rather than a plan the board has agreed, so nothing builds on what came before.

Burned by agencies
You have paid for promises before, and the last supplier left you with a platform you do not fully own or understand.

A team fighting its own tools
A simple change takes days, workarounds have become the process, and good people spend their time wrestling the CMS instead of doing their jobs.

A platform that has become a liability
It is out of support, expensive to run, or failing security and accessibility checks, and moving off it feels riskier than staying put.

Where to start: common questions
The questions regulated organisations usually ask before deciding which challenge to tackle first.
Mostly regulated organisations in the UK: professional and financial services firms, accountancies, wealth managers, law firms and charities. We have worked with them since 2006, and Umbraco has been our specialism since 2008.
Usually you already have a feeling, and often it is more than one, because the five feed each other. A fixed-price audit or an Immersion Session turns that feeling into evidence, so you know what is actually causing the problem before you spend money fixing it.
Start with whichever one is costing the most money or carrying the most risk right now. That is rarely the one people expect, which is why every audit ends with a prioritised plan rather than a list of everything that is wrong.
Not usually. Many of these problems can be fixed on the platform you already have, and a rebuild only makes sense when the evidence says the platform itself is the problem. We will tell you which applies before recommending anything larger.
Every starting point is fixed price and agreed before any work begins, so there are no open-ended day rates. Tell us what is going on and we will recommend the smallest piece of work that gives you a clear answer.
No. Our audits cover any website, whatever it runs on, and we can make front-end changes, and often template changes, on most content management systems. When we build a new platform from scratch, we build it on Umbraco, which has been our specialism since 2008. On headless sites, where the work sits in the front end, the CMS behind it matters much less, so a platform like Contentful is no barrier to working together.
